Very remote, rustic but comfortable camp out on the Alaskan Peninsula. The Hoodoo River has one of Alaska's best runs of ocean-bright chinook, sockeye, coho and chum salmon, with very few pinks. It is one of the very few rivers suitable for fly fishing mighty king salmon and it offers an exceptional top-water silver salmon experience. The Hoodoo also has an excellent fall-run steelhead population. Rugged environment, expect rainy weather.
To get to Hoodoo Lodge you must first fly to Anchorage and then out the Aleutian Peninsula to Cold Bay. Cold Bay is serviced by Peninsula Airlines {Pen Air}, a travel partner with Alaska Airlines. Reservations can be made directly with Pen Air at 907-243-2323 or 1-800-448-4226 or with Alaska Airlines 1-800-252-7522. Hoodoo Sport Fishing Lodge has reduced rates arranged with Pen Air. This rate has no advanced purchase requirements, no change fees, or blackout dates. Inform them you are a client of Hoodoo Sport Fishing and are requesting their lodge rate. Pen Air has two flights per day that service Cold Bay.
Average flight time between Anchorage and Cold Bay is approximately two hours and twenty minutes. You will need to fly to Cold Bay on the early flight and depart from Cold Bay on the later flight. This scheduling will allow for ample time to get your party to and from the lodge on the same day that you are traveling to or from Anchorage.
We recommend you spend the night in Anchorage before continuing on to Cold Bay and after returning from there. However if you wish to condense your schedule you may be able to make connections to Cold Bay and from Cold Bay leaving Anchorage after your trip without staying the night between flights. Please keep in mind that if you do so, your travel days will be long. Weather and charter company factors can also interfere with the perfect plan. Some extra time to spare can be convenient.
