The waterways forming the Chippewa Flowage are the epi-center of musky fishing on the fly. Non-stop casting from driftboats, using 10-wt rods with sinking lines and HUGE flies - not for the weak armed! Low percentage, high-effort angling, for premier fish. Not unlike steelhead or golden dorado fishing. Expect two to three strikes a day on average. Lodging excellent, great meals from local cafes, guides very strong.
Chippewa Flowage
The Chippewa Flowage in northern Wisconsin is home to what is probably the very best muskie fishing in the world. The "Big Chip", as locals call it, has produced many a world class muskie on the fly, as well as Louie Spray's 69 lb 11 oz monster world record back in 1949. The Big Chip boasts over 15,000 acres of water, over 200 undeveloped islands, and a mostly undeveloped 233 mile shoreline, making it the largest lake in Wisconsin.
Anglers fly into Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport (MSP). Musky Country Outfitters will pick you up and drop you back off curbside in one of our vintage FJ-60 Landcruisers. Musky Country Outfitters bases out of Boulder Lodge on historic Ghost Lake 23 miles east of Hayward, WI – Home of World Record Muskies. Boulder Lodge is approximately 150 miles or a 3-hour drive from MSP.

The Boulder Lodge can provide anglers with the choice of three different cabins. Of the three cabins, two are 2bed/1bath and one is 1bed/1bath. All cabins have kitchens are are very comfortably furnished to make recovery from a day full of casting much easier. RV and tent sites are also offered. The Boulder Lodge itself boasts a full service bar and grill that offers excellent live music and is open to the public as well as guests.
You can't cast 1000 times for that trophy muskie without some fuel, and the guides at Muskie Country Outfitters will make sure you get some by stopping at one of several cafes in the area for a heaping serving of biscuits and gravy. Breakfast can also be cooked over a fire and served by the lake before putting in the boats for a day of fishing. Lunch can either be packed and eaten on the water or anglers may stop and go back to a cafe. Dinner is usually had at the Boulder Lodge, where you can relax and enjoy the full service bar and live music.
