Pic of the Day

Welcome to the Pic of the Day

Wild On The Fly has long enjoyed a respected legacy of photographic excellence as one of the first sporting publications to transcend the “grin and grip” pose and push the boundaries of piscatorial picturing. We continue to champion the power of the still image, assured by the old adage that “fish just don’t live in ugly places.”

If you’ve got a great pic of anything related to fly fishing; from a jaw-droppin’ slab, to spectacular scenery, to cultural curiosities, to the unique or funny moment, e-mail it to us complete with all the appropriate info. If we like it, we’ll run it as a Pic of the Day and you’ll earn the coveted title of Piscine Paparazzi!

March 10,2010 - MYSIS ON ICESIS
"It was 6:30am and by 6:33 I was picking ice from my guides and my reel had frozen up tight," reports T.J. Pence. "That’'s when I spied this 25’-inch male 'bow in super shallow water. After several anxious drifts from behind a snow bank, I see his mouth form a giant “V” and then roll to intercept my tiny mysis. The line went tight and flying ice shrapnel exploded from my rod sending me off balance into the waist deep snow. I post-holed my way 75 yards down river to land this spectacular fish."
