Wild On The Fly has reserved two special weeks for summer 2010 at Rainbow River Lodge. Join us for either the smolt run (exciting streamer action for endless rainbows!) in June, or the height of the salmon spawn (drifting beads for monster rainbows!) at the end of the season. Only 10 spots available in each week so don't delay!
Quintessential Alaska fly-out lodge experience for monster rainbow trout and all five species of Pacific salmon. Located on the Copper River at the southern edge of Lake Iliamna, Rainbow River Lodge offers four-star accommodations, sensational food, daily fly-outs to legendary troutwater like Moraine, Battle and American Creeks, homewater jet boats on the Copper, and raft trips for salmon throughout the renowned Bristol Bay area. This is Alaska at its absolute finest!
A week at Rainbow River Lodge begins on a Saturday and ends on Friday. You must arrive in Anchorage from your home city no later than 2:00pm or plan to spend the first night. You will take a cab to the Iliamna Air Taxi office (907-571-1248) located at Merrill Field Airport in the Signature Flight Support Hangar at 3600 Old International Airport Road. Your charter flight to Iliamna usually leaves Anchorage at about 4:00pm, so be sure to arrive at least 45 minutes earlier for check-in. Luggage is limited to 70-pounds per person. Your flight will be reserved by the lodge in advance but you must pay for your ticket there at the airport (approx. $400 roundtrip). Flying time to Iliamna is about 45 minutes and is extremely scenic, particularly through Lake Clark Pass. At Iliamna your plane will be met by a RRL pilot, who will fly you by floatplane to the lodge (about 30 minutes away). Your return flight the following Saturday usually leaves Iliamna about 7:00pm arriving in Anchorage about 8:00pm, in time to transfer to the Ted Stevens International Airport for flights leaving Alaska any time after 10:30pm. That return schedule runs an hour earlier in September.
