Out There

Just released! The ten best episodes from Grizzly Hackle's 2011 Wild On The Fly television series on Outdoor Channel now available in a 3-DVD Collector's Edition set. Professionally mastered and replicated in true wide-screen DVD, enjoy over four hours of the most exciting (and one of the highest rated!) fly fishing series on television, including never-before-seen bonus footage.

The photograph above is videographer Michael Grasseschi capturing angler Drew Miller's first fly-caught musky. It was all part of a film production for the upcoming Wild On The Fly television series presented by the Grizzly Hackle Fly Shop in Missoula, Montana, and debuting on the Outdoor Channel this coming January 1, 2011.

Tarpon season is almost upon us and with any luck this year you'll be the guy chest-deep in the water cradling a beautiful silver king for that once-in-a-lifetime photo. In an effort to reduce injuries to fish (and anglers!) fewer and fewer guides are keen on pulling a big tarpon into the boat for a pic, and certainly not to try and weigh it. That's a good thing for many reasons, not the least of which is preserving your fashion integrity for the rest of the day!

Late on a cool and cloudy evening just this past June, we found ourselves huddled around a tray of greasy hamburgers at the Northern Lights McDonalds in Anchorage, Alaska. We had just arrived after a five-hour flight from Denver on one of those miserable discount airlines which serves no food and even charges for the water – and we were starving. Nothing was open in Anchorage but the liquor store and Mickey-D’s and we persuaded our hotel shuttle driver Paul to stop at both.
