Gear

If you haven't yet discovered the amazing Hero picture box developed by Go Pro it's time to buy a genuinely useful piece of fly fishing gear. This tiny 1.6” x 2.4” x 1.2” retro-designed cube comes with its own waterproof housing, digital battery, and selection of mounts (including headlamp-style headband) for $299. You'll also need to buy a 16G SD card for about $40, but then you're totally good to go.

And who better to vet it's significance - since in his older age he now strives to reclassify angling history itself - then our keeper of records Gordon Wickstrom. His report:

We wrote about the birth of the modern chest pack movement nearly eight years ago and our predictions of a major shift out of traditional vests into new, high-tech alternative carriers came to pass. This was good news for the adventure angler who is much better served by more compact gear.
