EASTERN BROOK TROUT

Brook Trout are the indigenous trout of the eastern US, and stretch from the streams of Georgia to the Hudson Bay, Canada then west to include the Great Lakes drainage. They have also been transplanted to many streams in the western US and other countries of the world.

Adults can range from 8” (common in the Sierra Nevada of California) to 25”, for those that live in large impoundments. Not considered an actual trout, they actually belong to the Char family.

They are also considered to be the most beautiful of trout, particularly in the fall just prior to spawning.
