Reel Action Alaska Lodge provides a luxury rustic experience on the banks of one of the Kanektok River which offers one of the most amazing fisheries in Alaska. Located in southwestern Alaska near the village of Quinhagak, the camp is perfectly situated within the Togiak National Wildlife Refuge (encompases 4 million acres) which is home to all five species of Alaskan Pacific Salmon. Topography varies from rolling tundra, to the highest mountain peaks and is a haven for all things wild.
Reel Action Alaska Lodge operates as a full service tent lodge that has been designed to provide its guests with all the comforts needed for living in the bush. The location of our lodge (1 mile from tide water) was carefully chosen to provide its guests a front row seat to the freshest chrome bright fly fishing action in Alaska. The best holding water to fly fish for fresh run kings, silvers, chums, and pinks is right in front of the lodge.
In the clear waters of the Kanektok you will find King, Coho, Sockeye, Chum and Pink Salmon as well as trophy size Rainbow trout, Arctic Char, Grayling and Dolly Varden. What makes our experience unique is while having the best access to chrome bright salmon action we also have a tremendous rainbow trout fishery in both the lower and upper river. Kanektok River leopard rainbows are spectacular to admire and a lot of fun to catch.

The Kanektok (aka the Chosen River) is a fly fisherman’s dream. The river is the perfect size and provides outstanding spawning grounds for all five species of Alaskan Pacific salmon. Located in southwestern Alaska near the village of Quinhagak, our camp is perfectly situated within the Togiak National Wildlife Refuge. Encompassing over 4 million acres, it is home to some of the most prolific salmon runs in the world and hosts a wide variety of fish, bird and mammal species.
A magical place by any account, its ability to support wildlife and sustain natural populations of WILD fish truly set it apart. In the clear waters of the Kanektok, anglers will find king, coho, sockeye, chum and pink salmon, as well as trophy-sized native rainbow trout, arctic char, grayling, and dolly varden. The Kanektok and its tributaries and braids give anglers access to some of the best sport fishing in the world. We are extremely lucky to be here on this river and are excited to share this very special area with you.
If you have ever dreamed of watching a giant Rainbow Trout violently smash a mouse pattern on the surface, Reel Action Camps is where will happen. The camps have some of the best mousing action in Alaska. Their guests have even caught Salmon, and Grayling on mouse patterns.
The Kanektok river fishing season is dictated by the king and silver salmon fishery and has excellent trout fishing. The kings run June 15th – July 25th while the silver salmon run July 23rd until Sept 10th. The king salmon escapement goal is 3,500 - 8,000 per season. The silver salmon escapement goal is 50,000 per season.
During the month of July the Kanektok receives a run of 50,000 – 200,000 chum salmon and on even years receives a run of over 100,000 pink salmon. The river also has a run of 50,000 - 200,000 sockeye salmon in mid July.
The rivers’ rainbow trout are most prevalent in the braided section of the river. There are trophy rainbows available with some close to 30 inches. The dolly vardens are sea run with over 20,000 - 35,000 passing the fish weir last year. The river also has a good grayling population.
Two guests are assigned to one guide and jet boat. All guides are patient and knowledgeable about where the fish are and the techniques to catch them. One of the qualifications for the camp’s guides is adeptness at instruction, so be assured that by the end of the week you knowledge of fly fishing will have improved greatly . . . even for the experienced.
Every guide has something different to offer whether it be unique knowledge of techniques, or ways to approach a particular type of water, there for the camp’s policy of daily rotation of guides between guests provides a much enhanced learning experience.
Equipment is available for the use of Reel Action Alaska Lodge guests. Such brands as Winston, Sage, G-Loomis, Redington and Echo fly rods in sizes 6,7, 8,9,10 weights in either spey, switch and single hand are available for your use.
The camps guides all tie their own flies had have special patterns that are very effective on the Kanektok River. You can be assured that the perfect fly pattern will always be available for any specific fishing situation.

The best holding water to fly fish for fresh run Kings, Silvers, Chums and Pinks is right in front of the lodge.
After a long day of fishing you will staying in all new customized wall tents equipped with all the amenities to be comfortable in the Alaskan wilderness. The interior of the tents were specifically designed by the owners and staff that have over 30 combined years working and guiding in Alaska.
You will be housed in spacious 10 ft x 12 ft and 12 ft x 12 ft heated wall tent cabins with wooden floors and carpeting. These tents are super strong, waterproof and can withstand the weather conditions in Alaska. For your comfort each guest has his/her own cabin.
They are furninshed with a padded cot with quilt and a high quality sleeping bag, soft pillows, dresser, lantern mosquito coil, clean linens for showering, clothes hangers, windows with screening, and plenty of storage room. Super quiet portable Honda generators are available for those needing a C-Pap machine.
The camp includes a showering tent with on demand hot water, and a vanity with mirror. The restroom is an outhouse that is maintained daily. A drying tent is located within the camp that can be used to dry any wet clothes, waders, boots or raingear.

You will eat three delicious meals prepared by the lodge’s head chef. A hot breakfast is served in the morning and a lunch is prepared each day to be eaten either at the camp or on shore during your day on the water. Dinner is served in the spacious dining tent and incorporates a menu that includes entrees such as steak, fish, chicken and pasta. Special dietary needs can be accommodated.
Day of Arrival
Seven-Day Trip Packages are from Saturday to Saturday. On Friday you will be flying from your hometown into Anchorage, Alaska where you will be spending the night. On Saturday you will fly from Anchorage into Bethel, Alaska on Alaska Airlines Flight #43 which leaves at about 12:12pm. Arrival into Bethel is approximately 1:28pm.
Reel Action Alaska Lodge has a scheduled flight with Ravn Alaska to bring its guests from Bethel to Quinhagak and back on the following Saturday. All guests arrive at the same time on the Alaska Airlines flight 43 arriving around 1:28pm. A driver from Ravn Alaska will meet you in the terminal to shuttle you and the others in that weeks group by van to the Ravn Alaska terminal.
Ravn Alaska is in communication with the lodge and brings everyone over together on the 5:30pm flight. There is no need for guests to make arrangements for this Ravn Alaska flight as a reservation will be placed for you. Please do not attempt to come over on an earlier flight as our staff is preparing the camp for your arrival and many chores and cleaning takes place on this change over day. Once in Quinhagak, you will be picked up by a Ravn Alaska representative and dropped off riverside where a Reel Action team member will take you the rest of the way to camp!
Day of Departure
Saturday – This morning you will leave camp and fly back into Bethel. This is also a Ravn Alaska flight and departs at 8:30am. Flight time is about 40 minutes.
Once in Bethel, the connecting Alaska Airlines Flight # 44 leaves at about 2:15pm and arrives into Anchorage approximately 3:25pm. From here, you can make your own flight arrangements. Many people do stay one more night in Anchorage or you can try and fly straight through to your home destination.
